PERKOBP (Pertubuhan Keluarga Orang-Orang Bermasalah Pembelajaran) is a Malaysian non-profit organisation established in 1993 to support persons with learning difficulties and their families through vocational training, sheltered workshop programmes, advocacy and community support.
Ordinary membership is open to family members of persons with learning difficulties who reside in Malaysia and are 18 years old or above. Associate membership is also available for individuals who support PERKOBP’s mission, although associate members do not have voting rights or hold office.
You can apply by submitting the prescribed membership application form to PERKOBP. Applications are reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee before membership is confirmed.
PERKOBP operates an Employment Training Centre and Vocational Activities Programme offering sheltered workshop packing, arts and crafts, baking, cooking and housekeeping training. These programmes help persons with learning difficulties develop work skills, independence and confidence.
PERKOBP primarily supports young adults with learning difficulties, typically aged 16 years and above, who are ready for vocational training or structured daily activities.
PERKOBP operates from its main training and sheltered workshop centre at Kg Tengah, Puchong, Selangor.
PERKOBP is governed by an elected Executive Committee comprising a President, Vice-President, Honorary Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and committee members. Elections are held every two years at the Annual General Meeting.
PERKOBP follows strict financial controls, including joint signatories for bank transactions, spending approval limits, annual audited accounts and internal auditors. Financial reports are presented to members at the Annual General Meeting.
Organisations can support PERKOBP through corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships, procurement of sheltered workshop services, donations, volunteering or skills-based support. Interested partners may contact PERKOBP directly for collaboration opportunities.
You can support PERKOBP by making donations, volunteering your time or skills, engaging your company in CSR partnerships, or helping spread awareness about the needs and abilities of persons with learning difficulties.
